Afi Ese is an African American contemporary realism and figurative narrative artist living in Houston Tx. She hold’s a master’s of science in forensic psychology with a concentration in juvenile art therapy. Her artworks focus on Black portraiture with an emphasis on generational trauma and triumph in rural Black America.  She combines and re-imagines historical events and attributes specific to the Black American experience.  Afi suffers from advanced rheumatoid arthritis and is wheel-chair dependent but believes art is a mental skill just as much as a physical skill and aims to show others with disabilities that they can find relief through art.
