Carrie Ann Baade (b. Louisiana)  is a contemporary painter who reconstructs personal and historical narratives through symbolic collage portraits. Her work explores themes of mythology, heritage, and transformation, blending historical research with visionary storytelling.

Baade’s work has gained international recognition, with exhibitions in renowned galleries and museums, including the LA and SF Art Fairs and institutions across the United States, Europe, Australia, and Indonesia. Recent solo exhibitions, such as Mirror Worlds at the Museum of Art in DeLand and Sawing a Woman in Half at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles, highlight her symbolic storytelling. Her monograph, Scissors and Tears (2022, La Luz de Jesus Press), explores her transformative body of work from 2002 to 2020. Baade’s accolades include the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Individual Artist Fellowship. Her work has been featured in prominent publications like Forbes Magazine, Hi-Fructose, and American Art Collector. Baade holds an MFA in Painting from the University of Delaware and BFA from SAIC. She is a professor of Art at Florida State University.
